Activities

We offer a booking service and own activities for your convenience if you stay in our Lodge. It ranges from Safaris over sightseeing tours to Sail yacht trips in the Algoa Bay. Here are some examples for your information.

Addo Elephant Park

Deep within the shadows of the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park. Here, the evenings are punctuated by the strident howl of the black-backed jackal, and the francolin's call heralds each new dawn. Safe from relentless persecution in the past, the grey leviathans of the bush now roam in peace.

The original Elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area - today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, black rhino, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. And their Addo has only just begun. with plans to expand the 164 000 ha Addo National Elephant Park into a 360 000 ha mega-park. In addition, plans include the proposed proclamation of a 120 000 ha (296 500 acre) marine reserve that includes islands that are home to the world's largest breeding populations of Cape gannets and second largest breeding population of African penguins.

Sailing in Algoa Bay

Poseidon Lodge owns a Sail Yacht with the name "Gringo" in the Port Elizabeth Harbour. We offer for guests of Poseidon Beach Lodge sailboat trips in the Algoa Bay. That is only possible if your booking is at least for 2 nights. If you are interested please send us an E-Mail as early as possible before your arrival. We have a lot to arrange for this adventure and we need a bit of time for the preparations. We take a maximum of 4 people at the same time. If the weather is not convenient for a sail we reserve the right to cancel the sail without further negotiation. Safety comes always first. For larger groups we might be able to arrange a couple of boats for a sail trip. In this case we will need at least 2 weeks before arrival in Poseidon Beach Lodge.

Day Safari with Lions, Rhinos Giraffes and more animals

For a great wildlife adventure we recommend a Day Safari in combination with a visit at ADDO Elephant National Park in the oldest game reserve in the Eastern Cape. If you like to go very close to lions and all other game on a open Landrover you should not miss this 4-Star Safari. Since we work with the Game Reserve we never heard complaints or anything else negative about this adventure. The rates are affordable and the quality is superior. You will be picked up at our Lodge at 9.30 in the morning and will be bach at approx. 21.30hrs in the evening. All meals are included.

City Tours in Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth City Tour

A classic tour, covering the history, cultures and sights of this coastal city. Travel along the beachfront, past the harbourp9 development towards the old town of Port Elizabeth. Visiting Settler's Park before driving past St George's Park, the home of Eastern Province cricket.

Real City Tour

(Township Tour)

You'll be taken from the city centre through the historically 'coloured' areas and on into the Afri-can townships, a legacy of our apartheid years. Visit trading areas, a school and small craft centre, providing insights into the realities and challenges of post-apartheid South Africa.

Shebeen Tour

Where there’s a township, there’s a Shebeen! These previously outlawed establishments are the vibrant, pulsing heart of the community where locals meet for a drink and often music and dancing too. The Township version of “the local” is an essential part of social life where people gather to enjoy themselves.
